Angerona was a goddess of the ancient Romans — a figure of silence, secrets, and hidden truths. Depicted with a finger pressed to her lips, she was the guardian of Rome's sacred name, the keeper of things too powerful to speak aloud. She appeared once a year, on the winter solstice, and then slipped back into the shadows. There is something fitting about naming a publishing company after her. Every game table has its secrets — the GM's notes, the twist no one sees coming, the villain whose name the players haven't learned yet. Angerona watches over all of it.
The word "Ventures" earns its place twice over. It speaks to the merchant adventurers of the Traveller universe, trading across jump routes at the edge of known space. It speaks to the dungeon delvers of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, stepping through doors that sensible people would leave closed. And it speaks to the act of publishing itself — the quiet leap of faith that says the world you've been building in your head is worth sharing with strangers at a table.
Angerona Ventures publishes tabletop roleplaying supplements for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons First Edition and the Classic Traveller and MegaTraveller science fiction systems. We live comfortably in the OSR space — that community of players and referees who believe the older systems got something fundamentally right and haven't stopped playing them. Our focus is on settings, neighborhoods, and adventures that feel lived-in — places with histories, factions with agendas, and NPCs with reasons to matter beyond their stat blocks. We believe the best supplements don't tell referees and game masters what to do; they hand them a world with enough detail to make it real and enough open space to make it their own. Everything we publish is designed to sit at a real table and get used.
Hello, my name is Dan, and I started Angerona Ventures because a stranger on the Traveller subreddit posted an adventure/patron seed that wouldn't leave me alone. I've been playing Advanced Dungeons & Dragons First Edition for over 45 years — long enough that my Players Handbook and Dungeon Master's Guide are held together more by memory than by glue — and I also extensively have played the original Classic Traveller, boxed set, Free Trader Beowulf "edition", in addition to MegaTraveller.
By day I work as an application architect, which means I spend a lot of time thinking about systems, structures, and how things connect, and it turns out that's not a bad set of skills for building a campaign setting from the ground up. The Traveller settings and scenarios are what I always wanted to find on a shelf and never quite did, and the AD&D supplements we're developing come from the same place — a player who has loved these systems for decades and wants to add something worthy to them. Angerona Ventures is what happened next.
